International Gemological Institute's Hong Kong Lab Opens to Success

The International Gemological Institute (IGI), one of the world's foremost authorities on independent certification and valuation of gemstones and fine jewelry, today
announced the official opening of its full-service identification and grading laboratory in central Hong Kong.

The 2,500 square foot laboratory is located on 29 Queens Road Central in Suite 302 of the Aon China Building. The IGI staff consists of local Hong Kong graduate gemologists (G.G.) and Fellows of the British Gemological Association (F.G.A.). The entire IGI Hong Kong team received several months of additional training at IGI Antwerp prior to the lab’s opening.

IGI Hong Kong offers diamond and gemstone identification, certification and grading reports on loose stones and finished jewelry for diamond dealers, jewelry manufacturers, jewelers and consumers. IGI Hong Kong is equipped with the DiamondSure screening instrument, an infrared spectrometer, spectrophotometer and also a Raman spectrometer. IGI gemologists use this equipment to accurately identify HPHT treated stones and synthetic diamonds as well as other treatments.
