Fossil unveiled the world's first Palm-powered wristwatch, with a capability of 8 megabytes of memory, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week.

Called the Wrist PDA (personal digital assistant), the watch features a Palm operating system and provides consumers with a wearable way to organize their personal information. A customizable watch face lets consumers change the watch's appearance to suit their own personal style, while the memory enables wearers to store thousands of addresses, years of appointments, memos, third-party Palm applications and more.

Additional features of the Wrist PDA include a high-density 160-by-160 pixel, grayscale LCD with touch screen and backlight; a stylus integrated into the watch buckle for easy access and a comfortable fit; one-handed navigation using the 3-way Rocker switch and Back button; the ability to beam data to another Palm-powered device via the Infrared Port; USB HotSync support for Mac OS and Windows; and a lithium-ion rechargeable battery that lasts approximately 3-4 days based on conditions of use. The battery can be recharged with the included AC adapter.

“This is the first Palm-powered organizer that a user can carry with them all the time,” says Frank Romero, director of technology product for Fossil, Inc. “This product changes the usage model of Palm OS based organizers, giving users access to their personal information by simply wearing a watch.”

The new Wrist PDA is available in two different brands, Fossil and Abacus. The Fossil branded product (FX2008) with stainless steel case and black leather strap, is priced at $249 and can be found at Fossil stores nationwide, or via: www.fossil.com

The Abacus brand Wrist PDA product (AU5005), priced at $199, has a stainless steel case and rubber strap with padded black leather inlay and will be available exclusively through direct sales and marketing partner Tiger Direct.
