It's time to tick

June 2005

Buoyed by the satisfactory performance of local exports of watches and clocks in 2004, the Hong Kong Watch and Clock Fair 2005 will again reach a new height of success backed by optimistic views of exhibitors and buyers.

Over the years, the fair has successfully established itself as the largest of its kind in Asia wholly dedicated to clocks and watches. The wide range of exhibits will definitely dazzle the buyers, from watch cases, dials, hands, packaging to finished clocks and watches like LCD, alarm, electronic and even diamond watches.

The 2004 fair attracted a total of 16,584 buyers from 102 countries and regions, representing a 10% increase from the previous year's event. According to the onsite survey conducted by Oracle Market Research, exhibitors and buyers are both optimistic about market prospects, anticipating more orders driven by the increasing market consumption.

Hong Kong has long been an ideal place for sourcing watches and clocks due to its sophisticated manufacturing, versatile styles, reasonable pricing, prompt delivery and flexibility. And it is a wonderful place for doing business, with comprehensive banking and financial systems, no exchange controls, low tax rates, copyright protection, freedom of information and an independent legal system.

The 2005 event will feature over 750 exhibitors from across the globe with around 80 brands participating in the Brand Name Gallery, a section dedicated to prestigious brands or designers' collections. This section has grown from 64 brands in 2004 to nearly 80 brands in 2005, reflecting satisfactory response from buyers.
At this premium zone, buyers will find brands such as, Hong Kong brands like Folli Follie, o.d.m., FIORUCCI, SODA, brands from Italy like KRIZIA and LANCASTER, Korean brand Daewoo, French bands Daniel Hechter Paris and GO Girl Only, Australian brands FUBU and Pomo, mainland China brand FIYTA, Swiss brands MUREX and TREVION, and UAE brand TED LAPIDUS etc.

Widening buyers' horizons further will be a series of seminars and the widely popular Asian Watch Industry Conference. Returning again this year, there will be the Hong Kong Watch and Clock Design Competition, illustrating the design talents of local designers and students. Watch mini parades will also be held during the fair period.
