1st Stage Hublot Record in La Solitaire Afflelou Le Figaro Race

August 2005

Small time difference authorize great hopes. Gildas Morvan, skipper of Cercle Vert, is the winner at the arrival for this first stage of Perros-Guirec to Getxo-Bilbao. But he also knows that only a minute and 47 seconds of advance on the second, Jérémie Beyou (on Delta Dore) and another 17 extra seconds for the third Laurent Pellecuer on Cliptol Sport, are nothing compared to the next tree stages that are remaining in this Solitaire Afflelou Le Figaro 2005, for the time being under a lot of winds, except at the arrival in the port of Getxo.
The Hublot record of each of the four stages rewards the skipper who has navigated the maximum of nautical miles over 24 hours. For this first stage, the Hublot Record comes to Thierry Chabanix, on Lebre Bermudes, who has completed 235 mile over 24 hours at an average speed of 9.81 knots.

Above the podium, Yann Eliès (Generali Assurances Group), Kito de Pavant (Bel Group) and Michel Desjoyeaux (Géant) are stake. And they are far from being the only ones. Howe skippers have gone through his first stage? For most of them, les minimal time difference maintains hopes up. Nothing is done yet, and it increases the suspense.
