de Grisogono at the Monaco Biennal Event: Daring Meets with Tradition

August 2005

For its 16th year since 1975, with a wealth of about thirty exhibitors, the International Monaco Biennial Event of Antique Dealers, Jewellers and Art Galleries was held from 29 July in the intimate setting of Monaco’s Sporting Club (Sporting d’Hiver). Over the course of a week, 5 specialties were exhibited: painting, African art, 18th century French decorative arts, antique gold and silver work and last, jewellery. de GRISOGONO was there. A first, at the same time as a very great honour for Fawaz Gruosi, founder and president of the famous Geneva firm.

de GRISOGONO or DARING IN LUXURY JEWELLERY DESIGN
Fawaz Gruosi has always acted by passion, imbuing his creations with style and daring. A daring he uses and abuses, going to the far reaches of his imagination to conquer the hearts of women with astonishing jewellery. Whether a masterful interpretation of the sapphire, a symphony of unreal colours born of the combination of milky latescent diamonds and rubies, or a ring with the malevolent charm of black diamonds, the power of Fawaz Gruosi’s ideas renders the most beautiful precious stones sublime, making it possible for de GRISOGONO to arouse an enthusiasm which for ten years has remained undimmed. His creations are unique tailor-made pieces, combining contemporary and classic design, mixing the ostentation of the Orient and the Baroque, a vision taking mind and heart to unknown lands. Fawaz Gruosi dares to break the rules to create astonishing volumes and sometimes, extraordinary pictorial effects.

The Biennial gave Fawaz Gruosi the occasion to exhibit, in addition to some of his more recent watch models, a part of what has made the renown of de GRISOGONO for more than ten years: his black diamond pieces, a marvel he rediscovered and updated for modern tastes; his magnificent luxury jewellery sets; but also his very latest collections of multicolour jewellery, meant for young-spirited women who appreciate fantasy combined with elegance. Jewellery, which will be perfect accessories for day attire for a yacht – and why not for a swimsuit at the beachı - as well as for evening dress or a gala organized by the Red Cross.
