Ever since they were first invented, timing systems for mechanical watches have been subject to ongoing refinement. Only a single function has remained unchanged: the conventional line-diagram output. Originally, the plots were on paper, now they are on LCD displays. The disadvantage: users who are not trained watchmakers sometimes have problems interpreting the line diagrams.

With the VARIO display mode, Witschi Electronic AG gives users clear and unambiguous results. Thanks to the novel LCD display layout, it is no longer difficult to clearly assess the rate accuracy of mechanical movements. And it is equally simple to check the stability of a balance for periods of up to 100 hours. Furthermore, the elegant benchtop instrument does not need to be connected to a PC with special software.

"As a global leader in watch testing and measurement technologies, we respond to the expectations of our customers. The demand for mechanical watches is growing and concurrently, so is the need for efficient and professional instrumentation,” says Robert Arn, head of marketing and sales.

The VARIO display mode has been integrated in the new Chronoscope S1 and Analyzer Q1 instruments – as a selectable option. After all, the classic line diagram is indispensable and remains the mode of choice for many users.

VARIO is particularly suitable for retailers and a wide range of industrial verification processes. Another item of good news: After the market launch of the Chronoscope S1, further Witschi timing systems will be upgraded with the VARIO mode.
