Big Bang – tone on tone

March 2006

Hublot

The saga of the Big Bang, which started exactly one year ago, is growing. However, we will not see the most extreme model of this timepiece except on the wrist of Jean-Claude Biver. He wears a ‘black on black’ Big Bang, which means everything is black, even the hands. For readability… well, we will come back to that later, but for the look… hmm, we will come back to that later, too. After all, is a watch really meant to tell the time?
But, without going to that level of extreme, we have to say that the Big Bang, besides the fact that it is truly a watchmaking product, is undergoing certain transformations, and what transformations they are!
White on white, set with 114 round diamonds for a total weight of 1.78 carats, mounted on a rubber bracelet, of course, but a white one, this new watch is called the ‘Big Bang St. Moritz’. Talk about a timepiece to make the girls dream, this Big Bang is water-resistant to a pressure of 10 atmospheres … now let’s see, under how many metres of snow is that?
On another and clearly more latino note, the ‘Big Bang Frapuccino’ loves its morning coffee. Its black dial comes with a coffee decoration, and is mounted on a coffee-coloured rubber bracelet. What else?
During the year, we will see other varieties of the timepiece that has become one of the year’s biggest success stories.
