Raymond Weil gets behind hoop dreams

July 2007

New York—Luxury watchmaker Raymond Weil, which partnered with some of the top NBA draft picks to help promote its sports watch, will now enjoy the cachet of having NBA players as the faces behind the brand.

The brand established partnerships with top draft pick Greg Oden (chosen as No. 1 pick during Friday's draft by the Portland Trail Blazers), Mike Conley Jr. (selected by the Memphis Grizzlies), Al Thornton (chosen by the L.A. Clippers) and Alando Tucker (selected by the Phoenix Suns).

BDA Sports Management represented each of the players.

“We share the same commitment to excellence with our timepieces as these athletes do on the court. We are thrilled to have these young men help us grow and define our brand association with top sports stars like [the NBA's] Steve Nash and [golf star] Natalie Gulbis,” Raymond Weil's Vice President of Marketing Gil Ozir said in a statement issued on Wednesday announcing the partnership.

The players promoted the Swiss brand's RW Sport collection by wearing the watches during the 2007 NBA Draft and during promotional appearances on other programs. Raymond Weil unveiled its sports watch collection in the fall of 2006, with a new advertising campaign that uses the tag line “Not a moment missed.”
