Raymond Weil’s Freelancer

August 2007

Freelancer, the new Gent’s and Ladies’ mechanical collection from Geneva watchmaker Raymond Weil, is a nod in the direction of independent professionals who wish to remain masters of their own destiny - just like Raymond Weil some 30 years ago.

The Freelancer collection is, above all, a tribute from Elie and Pierre Bernheim to their grandfather, in recognition of the spirit of independence he cultivated and passed on to the Brand’s future generations.

Raymond Weil continues to affirm the distinctive, luxury-based identity of one of the last pearls among independent Swiss family watchmakers.

This year marks a new élan for Raymond Weil, with two major innovations: the introduction of the visible balance wheel and the launch of a Ladies’ collection of mechanical timepieces.

In the new Raymond Weil Gent’s collection, the balance wheel can be seen beneath a mat white dial with the self-winding mechanical movement visible through a sapphire crystal. Freelancer also comes in a day and date version with a mat black dial embellished with circular ‘guilloché’ featuring days of the week at 12 o’clock and a three-day date window at 6 o’clock.

The Raymond Weil Ladies’ collection subtly blends aesthetics with watchmaking know-how. The heart of the mechanical movement can be seen through a dainty window at 1 o’clock, beneath an elegant dial in natural white mother-of-pearl, harmoniously sprinkled with 11 full-cut diamonds specially selected for their clarity.

Freelancer has a round steel case and a dial with a pure, elegant design in sober, contemporary colours. The polished, brushed steel bracelet has the RW signature folding clasp and fits snugly to the wrist for perfect comfort and ergonomics.
