Thailand's Jewel Fest Club, an organization formed by the Thai Gem & Jewelry Traders Association in co-operation with the Tourism Authority of Thailand, held a blue sapphire competition during the September Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair. Contestants submitted 525 blue sapphires ranging from 5 to 200 carats per piece.
Photo of the first-prize stone in the 10 carats and up category. The stone weighs 82.77 carats and is owned by Mr. Vichian Veerasaksri of Aquarius Gems Trading Co., Ltd.
