October 2003

One of the diamond trade's most respected diamantaires, William Goldberg, died Oct. 20. He was 77.

As the founder of his eponymous diamond company, Goldberg was a towering figure on the New York diamond scene. He was a former president of the Diamond Dealers Club (DDC), to which he belonged for nearly 50 years.

“A trusted colleague and successful businessman, Bill's fairness and dedication to his family, our profession and all people of goodwill was well-known,” DDC President Jacob Banda said in a statement. “His commitment to the highest standards of integrity will be sorely missed by all who were privileged to know him.”
