One of the new launches this year is a brand with the rather academic sounding name of Accademia. When creator Marco Rigovacca was asked why he chose this name, he explained that his jewelry is based on principles of research, teaching and 3D design. The pieces are very geometrical, with either flowing lines or formal cubic shapes of diamond pavÉ. Many have moving parts such as the rings with whimsical pavÉ diamond or colored gemstone spheres that turn inside their settings. The creator also likes the rigor of black and white and teams up white gold with black diamonds in ladies' earrings that match men's cuff links. With this `academic' approach, we are sure to see more new creations coming from Accademia as time goes on.
