Brass forms by Robert Lee Morris

May 2003

Designer Robert Lee Morris has returned to his roots as a sculptor with his latest collection of hand-forged brass forms, entitled Sails and Stacks. The concept for Sails was born when designer friend Donna Karan requested one of Morris' pendants be enlarged into a wall sculpture for her new Madison Avenue store. Evoking the sailing vessels of yesterday, the sculptures are light and graceful and are frequently sold in combinations. The idea for Stacks came from a need to complement Sails. Stacks sculptures, disk-like forms sprouting from vertical stems, resemble the leaf pattern on a eucalyptus plant. Like Morris' signature jewelry designs, both collections reflect the soft lines of organic forms captured in metals.

capture the romance of the sea
and the soft organic shapes of nature.
