The spotlights is now on men and their love affair with jewellery, in particular with Tahitian pearls in dark mysterious colours. Men's jewellery will no longer be just an obsession of the minority few, but moving towards the centre stage of the fashion world.

Ancient rulers, princes and noblemen were lavishly adorned with pearls. Sadly, in our modern life in concrete conglomeration, this tradition of extravagance and exuberance has been given place to sobriety and minimalism, living little space for colours and flamboyance in the life of men.

But the wave has turned. Tahitian pearls, in their intense colours and soft-glowing nacre, is the perfect gem to bring exuberance and flamboyance back to men's accessories.

In response to this emerging trend, the international pearl company Golay is launching a collection of men's jewellery with Tahitian pearls.

Designed and made in Paris for the dynamic and the sportive, the collection “20° Sud” will be available in three necklace designs and one bracelet design. The collection will be further developed to include rings and cuff-links.

The Tahitian pearls are set in silver and mounted on caoutchouc straps. The wholesale price range is from 70 euro to 200 euro, and will be distributed through independent jewellers. The standard collection features round Tahitian pearls of 9mm to 10mm, but pearls of larger sizes in various shapes are available upon specifications.

Golay Group believes that men's jewellery with pearls is a niche market that promises good potential growth. Head of the pearl division at Golay, Peter Fischer, said: “Pearls are generally perceived as the ultimate symbol of femininity, but femininity is no longer exclusively reserved for women in the 21st century. Every man has a fair share of femininity in him. Jewellery with Tahitian pearls will be a good beginning to recognise the rising need for sensual men's jewellery.”
