Montgomerie set to return to Crans for the Omega European Masters
Time flies and the big day draws near. On Thursday 4 September, Europe's golfing elite will once again meet in Crans-Montana for the Omega European Masters 2003, the first qualifying tournament for the Ryder Cup 2004.

In their never-ending quest for a tournament that is as close as possible to perfection and worthy of the prestige of title sponsor OMEGA, the organisers have modified several greens on the Severiano Ballesteros course. Work has been carried out on holes number 2, 3 and 9 to make the putting surfaces more receptive and more accessible. Players will now be able to opt for a more aggressive approach to these greens.

The organisers' desire to offer the best possible playing conditions goes hand in hand with their strong determination to present a player list of the highest quality. The presence of Scotsman Colin Montgomerie confirms this and will be a privilege for spectators, since the former number one in Europe has limited his appearances to the most exclusive and high-profile tournaments on the PGA European Tour circuit.

Despite his 40 years of age, “Monty” remains an exceptional player, thanks not only to his style but also his perfect mastery of the strategic aspects of the game. His more recent performances have been excellent and, with his eyes on the Ryder Cup 2004, the Scotsman is sure to be fully motivated for the 2003 Omega European Masters. In addition to Montgomerie, the presence of world number two Ernie Els and young Spanish phenomenon Sergio guarantee another year of superlative golfing action in Crans-Montana.
