Antiquorum's 100 Years of Wristwatches

November 2000

Antiquorum's “100 Years of Wristwatches”

Antiquorum's prestigious theme sale, 100 Years of Wristwatches, will take place in Geneva on November 19, 2000, at the Hotel des Bergues, and will be exhibited first in Tokyo, at Toshi International, and from November 15 at Antiquorum in Geneva. Antiquorum has chosen to organize a theme sale that celebrates the wristwatch as one of the most significant objects of the 20th century.

Antiquorum sets out to trace the evolution of wristwatches in terms of design and technology during the last 100 years. The most representative models from each brand, whether Swiss, French, German or American, will be selected to illustrate the development of the wristwatch, decade after decade. At the same time a parallel will be drawn with other fashion-sensitive items, such as cars or clothes, which have inevitably influenced the changes in trends during the 20th century.

This sensational theme auction, 100 Years of Wristwatches, will also be broadcast LIVE on Antiquorum Online at www.antiquorum.com where clients who cannot attend the auction in person can participate at the sale by interactive bidding in real time or by leaving absentee bids online.
