Farer brings back the World Timers collection

First launched in 2019, this popular collection from the British brand returns with key updates. Billed as the ultimate travel companions, the new models feature a central rotating 24-hour disc and a bidirectional internal bezel, enabling simultaneous time reading in 24 cities.

arer’s World Timers collection is back, with several key updates that make these timepieces better than ever. The popular Roché and Markham both return, along with a new green model called the Foxe.

Key updates across the collection include a new handset. The hour and minute hands are now a blunter, more modern alpha shape that better suits the watches’ aesthetics. The cities on the rotating bezel have also been updated. Chicago replaces Mexico City, Beijing replaces Hong Kong, and lastly, Paris has been replaced by Bienne to mark where the World Timers are produced. There’s also a new movement powering the collection...

Inside the World Timer is a unique version of the Sellita SW330-1, specially customised just for us by Sellita. The movement has been adapted so that the watch features a rotating disc with a 24-hour scale instead of a traditional GMT hand. When used with the rotating bezel this allows you to tell the time in any time zone.

The other key modification is that the mainspring has been updated to the one used in the SW330-2. This extends the movement’s power reserve to 50 hours.

This is the Elaboré version of the movement and is adjusted for accuracy in four positions. However, it has top-grade finishing, with blued screws and circular graining that reflects the special nature of this movement. Meanwhile, the custom rotor of each watch is coloured to match the landmass on that model’s 24-hour disc.

The dial of the Roché seamlessly blends a highly legible layout with a host of intricate details. For example, the mixed baton and Arabic numeral markers are cast from pure white Super-LumiNova, for unparalleled glow in low light conditions. They are mounted onto a midnight blue dial textured with a Clous de Paris guilloché pattern. This has then been varnished to give the dial a smooth, glossy finish, and provide extra depth to the rich colour.

The bidirectional rotating bezel is operated via the crown at 10 o’clock, and it’s lumed with Grade X1 Super-Luminova.

Meanwhile, the central disc on the World Timer dial is printed with a 24-hour scale, with a world map in powder blue at its centre. The last element on the dial is the circular date window at three, with the wheel colour-matched to the dial.

The polished silver handset is filled with mint green Super-LumiNova. The tip of the seconds hand is shaped like the Farer ‘A’, and lumed in a matching mint green.

The Markham World Timer combines a classic red, white and blue colour scheme with an eye-catching guilloché dial. Onto this are mounted polished batons and numerals that are filled in deep blue, and these are paired with a matching blue alpha-shaped handset. The hands are filled with mint green Super-LumiNova, whilst the tip of the seconds hand is the Farer ‘A’ in blue. On the Markham, the rotating bezel is a midnight blue, with the cities in a sky blue, except for London, which is in red.

At the centre of the dial is the rotating 24-hour disc that, along with the rotating outer bezel, enables you to read the time anywhere in the globe. The red and blue 24-hour scale is now even bolder, and inside it is printed a world map in blue and white.

The Foxe brings a deep green colour palette to the World Timer Collection. The main dial has a guilloché pattern that’s varnished to give the colour exceptional depth. On top of this are mounted pure white markers moulded from Super-LumiNova, for unparalleled legibility. The alpha-shaped handset has been updated for 2024 with a blunter, more contemporary shape. These polished hands are filled with mint green Super-LumiNova, whilst the tip of the seconds hand is the Farer ‘A’ in orange.

The green and white 24-hour scale on the rotating central disc is now even bolder than previous models, and inside it is printed a world map in mint and dark green. On the outside of the dial is a bidirectional rotating bezel that is the other half of the World Timer complication. It’s operated via the crown at 10 o’clock and is a deep green to match the dial.

The last element on the dial is the circular date window at three, with the wheel colour-matched to the dial and the numbers the same colour as the other dial text.
