Tissot has a number of new models all revved up and ready to go. From the world of motorcycling, the brand is introducing a new limited series MotoGP watch and a T-Race Nicky Hayden Limited Edition. For those who prefer four wheels, there is a new Racing collection. It is slightly more sober in colour, but loses none of the racing feel that Tissot does so well. Let’s take a closer look.

T-Race MotoGP Limited Edition 2008
Tissot has been the Official Timekeeper for the MotoGP since 2001 and to celebrate the MotoGP 2008, the brand has created a T-Race MotoGP Limited Edition in bright yellow. A number of performance motorcycle features adorn this new model: the bezel resembles disc breaks and the carbon composite featured on the case echoes the sophisticated materials used in the construction of MotoGP bikes. The dial has also been cleverly designed with its carbon-chequered pattern that is remi-niscent of the chequered flag, providing a contrasting background for the yellow seconds and chronograph hands. There will be 8,002 numbered pieces in total, which all come with 18 interchangeable casebacks. Each caseback depicts one of the different MotoGP circuits, which can be easily changed. And it doesn’t end there; each proud owner will receive his watch in a presentation box in the form of a motorcycle helmet. A great product for an increasingly popular sport – for fans of MotoGP or customers looking for a bold sports watch.

T-Race Nicky Hayden Limited Edition
Continuing on the theme of motorbikes and the MotoGP, comes the brand new T-Race Nicky Hayden Limited Edition. Nicky Hayden has been an ambassador for Tissot for a few years now and he delighted the brand when he became the winner of the MotoGP World Championship in 2006. This stunning new collector’s watch that bears his name sports the colour of his motorbike – the unmistakable orange with a touch of dark blue. Like the T-Race MotoGP Limited Edition 2008, many of the design elements are taken from motorcycles. This timepiece also comes with a presentation box in the form of a helmet that bears Nicky’s racing number, 69, a number that was his father’s when he was a racer too.

Tissot Racing
Tissot’s new Racing chronograph is totally different from the two-wheel inspired models. It follows the design cues of modern racing cars with sleek and sober design elements. The smallest chronograph wheel has a three-arm indicator fashioned like a car’s steering wheel with pointers in red. There are other red touches on the watch too with a red chronograph hand and the words ‘Start’ on the outer part of the dial. The pushers are of particular interest as they are not only inspired by paddle shifters, that are located behind a racing car’s steering wheel, but they are also placed over the top of a design detail that mirrors a car’s radiator grill. There is a tachymeter ring and date at 4 o’clock, as well as a choice of straps in chequered black rubber, vintage ‘driving-glove’ style with red stitching or a stainless steel bracelet.

The popularity of sports watches has really taken off these last few years and Tissot has definitely found its place in this extremely competitive market. With the rising popularity of the MotoGP worldwide, the brand is well placed, not only as official timer to the MotoGP, but also as the sponsor of one of the world’s fastest riders. Add to this a number of vibrant watches and business can only pick up more speed for a brand that is way ahead of the rest.
