The spirit of Miami’s beach lifestyle is the inspiration behind Glam Rock and has been since it was founded in 2005. Enrico Margaritelli and Isabelle Maujean, owners of the brand, saw an opportunity in the market for a new design approach that would bring glamorous finishing to quality timepieces. “After so many years in the watch industry and a long collaboration with Giorgio Armani, we had the opportunity to see many types of technical and fashion trends on the market,” explains Enrico Margaritelli. “With Glam Rock we were able to build a unique concept which includes a sophisticated construction with infinite ways to dress a watch.”
Their timepieces are highly recognizable thanks to their inventive and inter-changeable leather case covers that wrap snugly around the cases leaving the six oversized screws on full show. The concept is so distinctive that the covers have become a signature for the brand. Each case is equipped with an innovative release system that enables the user to change the cover effortlessly, transforming the entire look of the watch. The case covers are crafted in France and come in genuine alligator, lizard, python and other refined skins that are available in a full palette of colours.

After three successful collections, the Miami, the Miami Beach and the Cruise Line, business is going extremely well. “The USA is really an incredible market, we are really pleased with Neiman Marcus and the customers are loving the concept,” says Margaritelli “ All in all we have opened 21 countries and are looking to expand in the Middle East, Japan and hopefully Russia soon too.” As the brand’s success booms, the company isn’t taking a rest, with the introduction of a number of new sophisticated styles this year that its owners believe will “enhance the brand positioning in the fashion-luxury business”. As a preview to BaselWorld, Glam Rock has released a new Limited Edition Collection, called the GR80100, pictured below. This luxurious 46mm timepiece with its stainless steel round case and its removable white leather cover has been fitted with a mother-of-pearl dial that has been entirely set with 117 diamonds. Diamonds are also to be found on the bezel and on the buckle, totalling 2.77 carats in all. This sparkling timepiece is equipped with a Swiss Made Ronda quartz chronograph movement and is water resistant to 100 metres.
Glam Rock’s mission is to be the ‘dressmaker of horology’, something that no one else has tried to accomplish to our knowledge. Where many companies are searching for new materials and original alloys to improve and reinforce their timepieces, Glam Rock is using beautiful animal skins to dress its watches and spread a little of Miami’s sunshine worldwide.
