The Movado Sapphire achieves its distinctive appearance through a flat sapphire crystal that flows seamlessly to the edge of the round, bezel-free case, creating a smooth, fluid, unbroken surface. Launched nearly a quarter of a century ago, Sapphire was one of several key Movado families of the period that sought to bring the simple geometry and design purity of the acclaimed Museum® dial to the watch case that framed it.

Now for 2015, Movado adds four new men’s models to this iconic Movado collection. Featuring the collection’s thinner new 40mm cases, they include two ultra-modern bracelet models and two elegant strap styles – all distinguished by the signature bezel-free case with edge-to-edge sapphire crystal that defined the original Sapphire watch.

All four new models present a fresh interpretation of the famed single dot dial enriched with subtle new texture and tone-on-tone detail. These new metallic sunray dials feature an outlined signature dot at 12 o’clock, modern skeleton hands and an etched minute track with pinpoint cabochons marking the hours. The two monochromatic bracelet models feature a new “freefall”, non-integrated case construction – extended rectangular lugs join the newly slim, sleek bracelet to the polished case, offering wrist-conforming comfort. Styled with wide brushed center links and narrow polished outer links, the bracelet secures with a push-button deployment clasp. The first model is cool and contemporary, rendered in solid stainless steel with a silver-toned dial. Crafted in black PVD-finished steel, the second offering sports a dramatic all-black look.

Black leather straps with polished classic tongue buckles distinguish the two other new men’s Sapphire designs. The first features a polished yellow gold PVD-finished steel case and buckle, with matching, monochromatic yellow gold-toned sunray dial. The second model has a black PVD-finished steel case and buckle. Its black sunray dial is detailed by polished black hands, cabochons and outlined dot. With contemporary styling and fine Swiss craftsmanship, these newest additions reaffirm the Sapphire collection iconic design legacy. Water resistant to 3 ATM / 30 meters.

++++Movado TC Chronograph

MOVADO TC CHRONOGRAPH

Leading-edge design inhabits a remarkably thin case with an ultra-contemporary look and feel.

The Movado TC™ (Thin Classic) collection for men and women was launched in 2013. These sleek watches featured an ultra-thin, comfortable case design with a narrow bezel that created the impression of a grandly scaled dial. Last year, handsome new men’s dress models with minimally adorned dials and luxuriously smooth black leather straps were introduced to the collection.

Now for 2015, Movado adds two striking bracelet chronographs to the TC collection. Crafted in solid stainless steel or stainless steel with gold-toned accents, these split-second timekeepers house their precise Swiss quartz movements in round cases with narrow bezel and two low-profile chronograph pushers that measure 42 mm in diameter, yet only 9.80 mm deep. This impressive thinness in a chronograph is achieved through the top-loaded case construction.

Protected by a flat sapphire crystal, their sunray-textured dials are defined by applied stick markers and signature concave dot at 12 o’clock, a printed minute track, skeleton hour and minute hands, an ultra-thin center-mounted chronograph seconds hand, a small seconds hand at 3 o’clock, chronograph tenths-of-a-second counter at 6 o’clock, 30-minutes counter at 9 o’clock, and round date window at 4 o’clock.

Silver-toned accents subtly enhance the black dial’s modern, minimalistic design on the solid stainless steel model. The two-toned model features a silver-toned dial with gold-toned hands and markers, and black printing. Their flexible 5-row link bracelets with three rows of brushed links accented by two narrow rows of polished links secure with hidden deployment clasps.

Elegantly thin and distinctively understated, these newest additions to the contemporary Movado TC collection are water resistant to 3 ATM / 30 meters.

++++Movado Parlee

MOVADO PARLEE™ 2015 LIMITED EDITION AUTOMATIC CHRONOGRAPH

Taking its name and design inspiration from Parlee Cycles, the company that pioneered the use of ultra-lightweight unidirectional carbon fiber in racing bike frame fabrication, and in doing so, redefined the cycling world, the first Movado Parlee Limited Edition Automatic Chronograph premiered at Baselworld last year to critical acclaim. Highly charismatic, the original limited edition Movado Parlee was crafted in sandblasted black-PVD finished titanium and unidirectional black carbon fiber.

Now Movado proudly introduces the 2015 Movado Parlee Automatic Chronograph in an edition limited to 250 individually numbered pieces. Offered this year in titanium and unidirectional carbon fiber, it is powered by the same fine ETA A07 Swiss automatic chronograph movement at the first edition. An exhibition case-back reveals the intricate workings of the fine self-winding mechanism with 48-hour power reserve. The design’s signature, double-contoured 46 mm case, 14.8 mm deep, is distinguished by a tone-on-tone Parlee logo along one side, a distinctively styled crown and chronograph pushers with recessed “Allen wrench” detail.

Movado Parlee’s flat black 45mm bezel, fabricated from 250 layers of unidirectional carbon fiber, and its wide center bracelet links sport the same soft, brushed sheen as the durable, ultra-lightweight bike frame material innovated and perfected by Parlee. The wrap-around tubular framework in sandblasted gray titanium echoes the tubular form of a bicycle’s frame, fluidly integrating the raised case with the bracelet while giving the Movado Parlee an open, aerodynamic, ultra-modern silhouette.

The recessed unidirectional black carbon fiber chronograph dial features a bold Movado Parlee logo in green, orange, blue or white at 3 o’clock and a brushed black flat Movado signature dot at 12 o’clock. Protected by an antireflective sapphire crystal, this contoured dial is encircled by a shiny black minute reflector ring with gray or white indices and Arabic numerals. Visibly deeper at the north/south ends, the reflector ring further enhances the watch design’s dimensionality and air of animation. Three black carbon fiber sub-dials – a 30-minute chronograph counter at 12 o’clock, 12-hour chronograph counter at 6 o’clock, and a small seconds hand at 9 o’clock – along with a date window at 3 o’clock, and white-tipped skeleton dauphine hour/minute hands and center-mounted chronograph seconds hand provide striking textural and color contrast.

The lightweight Movado Parlee bracelet is constructed with narrow outer links in gray titanium, and wide unidirectional carbon fiber center links. Built for endurance, yet remarkably supple and comfortable, it secures firmly to the wrist with a push-button deployment clasp.

Modern design and innovation define the Movado experience, and the newest Parlee Chronograph is a compelling example of the brand’s artistic creativity fused with technologically advanced watchmaking expertise. Water resistant to 5 ATM/ 50 meters.

MOVADO - SWISS HERITAGE. MODERN DESIGN.

One of the world’s premier watchmakers, Movado is renowned for its iconic Museum® dial and modern design aesthetic. Since its founding in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1881, Movado has earned more than 100 patents and 200 international awards for artistry and innovation in watch design and technology, and Movado timepieces have won world renown for their unique beauty and timeless design.

Movado is hallmark of some of the most famous timepieces ever created, most notably, the Movado Museum® Watch. Designed in 1947 by Bauhaus-influenced artist Nathan George Horwitt, the watch dial defined by a solitary dot at 12, symbolizing the sun at high noon, has been acclaimed for purity of design unrivaled in the history of time-keeping. When Horwitt’s dial was selected for the permanent design collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, in 1960, it became the first watch dial ever awarded this distinction. Known today as the Movado Museum Watch, this legendary dial is regarded as an icon of Modernism. A trademarked and award-winning design, the celebrated single dot dial now distinguishes a wide range of Movado timepieces.

This year at Basel, Movado introduced an exceptional new collection of timepieces that reflect Movado’s proud Swiss heritage in mechanical timekeeping, as well as the clean, modern lines for which its watches are known – 1881 Automatic featuring designs for men and women…also launching this year, the new Sport Edge men’s line, sparked by color, energizes iconic Movado design elements with crisp, contemporary style and youthful vigor, while the modern new Aria women’s family in white ceramic and stainless steel illuminated by diamonds, redefines sport-chic with brilliant simplicity.

Movado also brings new breadth, beauty and innovation to several of its best-selling collections: The futuristic Sapphire family introduces four new men’s models – two on strap and two on a new, thinner “freefalling” bracelet – that feature an elegantly slimmer case design along with the family’s signature flat, edge-to edge crystal …Movado’s iconic Museum Classic collection adds a new gold PVD-finished strap model in fashionable tones of camel and brown…and the cleanly tailored Movado TC line, known for its large ultra-thin case and narrow bezel, adds two distinctive new bracelet chronograph models.

The Movado brand experience is defined by its long, rich heritage of design innovation, and a close, enduring association with the arts. Expressions of Movado’s commitment to the fine and cultural arts encompass commissioned watch designs by famed artists, affiliations with talented brand ambassadors, sponsorship of major arts institutions and support of emerging artists.

Continuing this role at Baselworld 2015, Movado Group was proud to present an exhibition of extraordinary works by acclaimed American photographer Joel Sternfeld in its innovative exhibition space in Hall 1.0 South. Taken during the 70’s and 80’s in locations throughout the United States, Sternfeld’s evocative color pictures depict America, its inhabitants and the traces left by people on the landscape.

Always in motion, Movado continues to create exceptional watches of quality Swiss craftsmanship and design distinction. These new Movado timepieces for 2015 are characterized by a proud 134-year history of design excellence, innovation and a dedication to the future of time.
