Mido unveils new Commander Big Date

The new Commander Big Date features a deep blue dial with sunray satin finish, which is one of the main characteristics of the collection. To add a subtle vintage touch, the hands and indexes are coated in beige Super-LumiNova®. The Commander Big Date beats to the rhythm of the Caliber 80 with large date aperture. This ultra-reliable calibre comes with a particularly resistant and accurate high-tech Nivachron™ balance spring, and delivers a power reserve of up to 80 hours.

ido’s new Commander Big Date knows how to play with colours and textures with class. The sunray satin-finished deep blue dial is perfectly paired with the bright polished indexes, flat diamond-cut hands, date aperture and round 42 mm-diameter case in satin-finished stainless steel, complete with polished bezel and satin-finished case edges and lugs.

Mido has added a final little flourish to this design, which makes all the difference when it comes to character: a vintage-style beige Super-LumiNova® coating on the main display components. At night, this phosphorescent material emits a green light to ensure flawless legibility. And because all icons have a distinctive trait, its large date aperture is shown at 6 o’clock. To top it all, a faceted and domed sapphire crystal offers excellent visibility and protection.

Another significant detail is the navy blue textile strap with its highly original finely woven design, completed with rolled edges and contrasting beige stitching. It delivers an extra helping of style for this new Commander Big Date, which is as fashionable as it is refined.

The transparent case back reveals the workings of the Commander Big Date’s mechanical heart. The Caliber 80 with large date aperture is fitted with an oscillating weight decorated with Geneva stripes. This extraordinary automatic movement combines excellent autonomy – up to 80 hours of power reserve – with a Nivachron™ balance-spring. The use of this component reduces the effect of magnetic fields on the movement, while providing impact resistance and durability to help ensure precision. Finally, the Commander Big Date is guaranteed to be water-resistant up to a pressure of 5 bar (50 m/165 ft).
