The famous saddle-makers (1837) quickly diversified into various luxury segments, in particular in watchmaking from as early as the 1920s. Hermès sold magnificent timepieces created by the most famous watchmaking houses. In 1978 it set up its own watchmaking brand in Bienne, Switzerland. Montre Hermès SA maintained the Hermès style, inspired by equestrian sport, but still preferred to use calibres from Swiss specialists inside the case. The famous Cape Cod model was equipped with a movement by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier and the new Arceau Grande Lune with full date has a Dubois Dépraz signed moon phase module.
