Chopard Happy Sport in new Oval Lucent Steel™ rose gold case

Red, glamorous, and quintessentially feminine, the talisman watch, born thirty years ago with a free-spirited attitude, now radiates unparalleled elegance in its new oval shape and seven dancing diamonds. Its all-red strap and mother-of-pearl dial perfectly complement the bi-material case.

I

n 1993, capturing the spirit of the era, Caroline Scheufele, now Chopard Co-President, invented a sports watch based on what was at the time an original and surprising association between steel and diamonds.

This unprecedented bold move marked the birth of the Happy Sport. Radiating the spirit of the diamonds that waltzed across its dial, twirling like étoile ballet dancers performing free variations between two sapphire crystals, Happy Sport quickly became a standard-bearer for the Manufacture and indeed for feminine watchmaking as a whole.

The light and slender feminine design of this new Happy Sport forms a distinctive oval shape drawing on the elegance of contoured lines: the bezel is slimmer on the flanks at 12 and 6 o’clock, while more generous at 3 and 9 o’clock, conferring a sense of distinction and refinement on both the watch itself and the wrist it adorns.

By shaping the oval according to its own singular aesthetic, Happy Sport adds a multicultural symbol of abundance and eternity. As a formalised representation of the egg, the oval is a place of both shelter and emergence, a landscape of all possibilities, where future transformations take shape.

Within this sublime setting, seven dancing diamonds emblematic of the Maison perform their joyful whirl on an infinitely shimmering red mother-of-pearl dial with eminently feminine nuances. The matching glossy red leather strap graces the wrist, while the ruby on the crown adds a cheerful exclamation mark to this precious custodian of time.

Chopard Happy Sport in new Oval Lucent Steel™ rose gold case

Firmly committed to more sustainable luxury, Chopard stands out for its choice of responsible materials. This bi-material Happy Sport timepiece is thus crafted in Lucent Steel™ and ethical 18-carat rose gold.

Manufactured with a recycling rate of at least 80%, the Lucent Steel™ used for the case is an exclusive Chopard alloy. The result of a scrupulous remelting process, it boasts properties comparable to surgical steel making it highly dermo-compatible and is 50% more abrasion-resistant than conventional steels. Finally, thanks to its crystal structure featuring superior homogeneity, its purity enables it to reflect light in a unique way. Since 2023, Chopard has been using its Lucent Steel™ to produce all its steel timepieces.

When it comes to the gold used for the crown, cabochons and bezel – the latter being available in polished or diamond-set versions – it is 100% ethically sourced, a principle to which Chopard has been committed since 2018 for the production of all its gold jewellery and watches. One of the rare watch Manufactures to have had its own precious metals foundry workshop for several decades, Chopard is thus able to control its value chain in order to offer creations conducive to a more reasonable world.

Chopard drew on its watchmaking expertise to endow the Happy Sport Oval model with a mechanical self-winding 09.01-C movement specially developed for its ladies’ watch cases. ‘Having it all’ and renouncing nothing is the perfect motto for the women who choose the Happy Sport Oval. Feminine, technical, precious and relaxed: through the sheer diversity of its qualities, Chopard’s icon represents the quintessence of a successful model. This creation bears witness to Chopard’s ever more seamless integration of its two centres of excellence – stemming from a combination of the myriad professions and skills contributing to the grandeur of watchmaking and jewellery.
