Gucci: 50 years of horology

A NEW HIGH WATCHMAKING COLLECTION

April 2022

Gucci: 50 years of horology

In 2022, Gucci has announced a milestone in its design history – 50 years of Swiss watchmaking. As part of the celebrations, it is introducing its second collection of mechanical timepieces, full of fascination and joy.

G

ucci is celebrating the creativity, complex mechanics and exceptional decoration that mark high watchmaking, offering a whole new merry-go-round of horological possibilities.

The new Gucci high watchmaking collection includes:

The white gold GUCCI 25H Skeleton Tourbillon, which, with its impossibly sleek, 8mm-thick case and captivating see-through dial, infuses modern horological engineering with Italian style and flair. A flying tourbillon calibre is one of the most prestigious technical feats in the field. The sheer elegance of the Gucci GG727.25.TS movement allows it to become the central dial decoration, as it appears to float above the brushed and polished titanium bridges that form the caseback.

Gucci takes this carnival of time to the skies with the G-Timeless Moonlight, a poetic timepiece that invites the wearer to enjoy a space odyssey on the wrist. We see the beautifully decorated moons on the dial wax from gleaming crescent sliver to full, pearlescent whole, before beginning their celestial journey all over again. Created around the new, in-house moonphase movement, the GG.V838.MP, the sheer technological precision of the G-Timeless Moonlight allows it to dictate its own time following the short, 29.5-day lunar month. This slight time lapse creates a 24-hour shortfall every two years, yet the watch keeps accurate time, even during short months. Displaying the levels of mastery high watchmaking requires, the G-Timeless Moonlight need only be adjusted every 360 years.

The G-Timeless Planetarium presents a spectacular carousel of coloured gemstones circling the dial. Not only does it create a dramatic ring of precious colour, the G-Timeless Planetarium retains a showstopping power – the gem-set wheel rotates around the dial in a glinting gala of light at the mere touch of a button, made possible by Gucci Swiss Timepieces’ groundbreaking horological invention – the Dancing Hours Flying Tourbillon GGC.1976.DS calibre with on-off control. This stop-start system allows the wearer to activate the gem-set wheel whenever they please, inspiring a kaleidoscopic display with every turn.
