ince its creation in 2018, Atelier Wen has brilliantly combined Chinese craftsmanship – just admire the magnificent guilloché dials created by the expert hand of Master Cheng – with a contemporary aesthetic that appeals to collectors. The eagerly-awaited follow-up to the breakout Perception collection, launched three years ago, promises, in the words of co-founder Robin Tallendier, “to explore and combine new métiers d’art with unique execution”.
The resultant dial, the brand’s most complex to date, will emphasise the play of light, thanks to various levels of transparency on different surfaces and materials. It will also involve an artistic collaboration as part of this intricate assemblage. This will be complemented by a display caseback that will unveil a new, high-end movement that has been impeccably and contemporarily finished.
The new collection will solve a complex equation: how to build on the success of Perception? How to evolve while remaining true to the identity of Atelier Wen? How to create a truly original design, not simply a rehash of something already seen, without being divisive? An ambitious new chapter is opening for Atelier Wen.
