Hamilton Khaki Field King: off duty, off grid, by design

Born from Hamilton’s transition from military supplier to civilian watchmaker, the Khaki Field King has always marked a moment of change. Today, it returns with a renewed purpose.

T

he original Khaki King emerged in the years following World War II, as Hamilton began translating its military expertise into watches for civilian life. Rugged construction and clear legibility remained essential, but the context shifted. Watches were no longer issued. They were chosen. That balance between utility and approachability continues to define the Khaki Field King today.

This latest evolution embraces that legacy while softening its posture. Designed for leisure, outdoor exploration and unstructured time, the Khaki Field King sheds overt military cues in favour of a cleaner, more relaxed expression.

The removal of the 24-hour scale opens the dial, allowing the Arabic numerals, minute track and signature day-date display at 12 o'clock to take centre stage. Set in contrasting tones, the day-date window reinforces clarity while giving the King its distinctive presence.

Behind its refined appearance, the watch is engineered for durability. Water- resistance has been increased to 10 bar, supported by a robust sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating for improved legibility in changing light. Inside, the H-40 automatic movement delivers an 80-hour power reserve and enhanced resistance through a Nivachron™ balance spring. Meanwhile an upgraded bracelet construction and a stainless-steel movement holder reinforce long-term resilience and reliability.
