Beaubleu La Pièce: a first in watchmaking

Born from a collaboration with the historic Monnaie de Paris, one of the world’s oldest continuously operating mints, La Pièce marks a new chapter in the Beaubleu story.

F

or over twelve centuries, Monnaie de Paris has mastered the art of striking metal, shaping coins and medals with extraordinary precision. Until now, that expertise had never been applied to watchmaking. La Pièce represents a world first, created in the heart of Paris within the capital’s last major active mint.

The collection comes to life through two dials freshly struck inside the workshops of the Hôtel de la Monnaie in Paris. Using traditional coin striking techniques, what was once impossible for a watch dial becomes possible. Instead of layering separate components, the metal itself is sculpted. It is pressed, recessed, raised, and shaped to capture and reflect light from every angle.

Conceived as if carved from a solid block of paper, La Pièce No. 1 unfolds through a series of non-concentric circles that evoke the movement of light from sunrise to sunset. La Pièce No. 2 reveals a rare technical achievement: polished interior surfaces and hour markers machined directly from the metal itself. A true tour de force, and a first in watchmaking for a single-piece struck dial.

Price: €1,790–1,890 (888 pieces per colour)
