Edox Delfin 1973: the water champion

A modern tribute to an Edox icon, the new Delfin 1973 combines the collection’s signature dodecagonal bezel with a redesigned case and textured dial inspired by the ocean floor.

n 1961, Edox launched the Delfin – and made its mark. With its double caseback, and specially-engineered gaskets, it set new standards in water resistance, earning Edox its enduring title as ‘‘The Water Champion’’ of Swiss watchmaking. Then, in 1973, Edox didn’t simply update the Delfin. It reinterpreted it – sharper lines, a distinctive dodecagonal bezel, a bolder case architecture.

Fifty years on, Edox applies the same approach. The 2026 Delfin 1973 keeps the iconic twelve-sided bezel as its anchor, while introducing a new case and an entirely new dial, with a linear embossed finishing achieved by repeatedly striking the brass substrate with a linear tool, creating a genuine horizontal relief, evocative of the rippling patterns of a sandy seabed.

Available in automatic (41mm), date quartz (41mm) and chronograph (43mm) for men, alongside a ladies date quartz (32mm). Silver, black, blue and green dials, on jubilee steel bracelet or rubber strap, with a two-tone gold edition completing the range.

Price range: CHF 595-995
