Now hear this …

May 2005

For those watch aficionados who want to hear what time it is, de Grisogono has created the ultimate minute repeater … the Occhio Ripetizione Minuti.

This surprising timepiece was inspired by the reflex camera principle whereby, in a split-second, an image is captured on film. In this case, Fawa Gruosi, the brand’s President, came up with the idea to create a watch with a dial made up of blades that would open up to reveal a complex minute repeater mechanism and close the moment it stopped chiming.
To achieve this he worked with Christophe Claret and his team and the result is a truly remarkable 37-jewel timepiece comprising 417 components, featuring a dial with 12 blades and a three-gong minute repeater for the hours, quarters and minutes.

The Occhio Ripetizione Minuti (43.6 x 56.4 mm) will be a Limited Edition of 50 pieces in red gold or blackened white gold and platinum with a 12-blade ceramic diaphragm.
We will have a more detailed look at the watch in the next issue of Europa Star. But for those of you who can’t wait, here are the watches … without the chimes.
