The Mystery of The Royal Blue Tourbillon by Ulysse Nardin

June 2005

As novels go, the Mystery of The Royal Blue Tourbillon is worthy of the investigative resources of both Sherlock Holmes and his eminent chronicler Doctor Watson.
As a modern timpiece, it is elegant, aesthet-ically appealing because of its vibrant blue sapphire crystal bridges and main plates. The mystery lies in the flying tourbillon because it gives the impression that it is floating in space like a miniature space station.
Constructed on the principles of James Pellaton (La Locle’s famous watchmaker) the skeletonized movement hides its secret as to what is holding the flying tourbillon, which appears to be revolving weightlessly in its cage. The winding stem is also invisible.

The Royal Blue Tourbillon (42 mm) is in platinum and the interior of the bezel is set with diamonds and blue sapphires as hour and minute markers. The setting of the time and the winding of the Calibre UN-79 manual winding movement uses a circular rack mechanism.
This Limited Edition timepiece (99 pieces) has an anti-reflective sapphire crystal front and back, an alligator leather strap with a folding platinum buckle and is water-resistant to 50 metres.
