Presented as a forerunner of the Parmigiani Fleurier 2009 collections, the Tondagraph celebrates two major new features: its grand complication and its new case, with more markedly classic curves.
Let's take its mechanism first. Combining the hypnotic beauty of the tourbillon with the technical function of the Chronograph, the Tondagraph model (Calibre PF 354) joins Parmigiani Fleurier's Haute Horlogerie collections. All Parmigiani Haute Horlogerie models are the fruit of tens of trades essential for creating an in-house manufactured piece. While the chamfering of the two tourbillon bridges alone requires twenty working hours to achieve the requisite finish quality, the cage as a whole will require nearly forty hours. The entire mechanism, thankfully, can be admired via the watch’s exhibition back.
The dial, marked by its CÔtes de GenÈve design, features a double ellipse formed by the outline of the tourbillon cage and of the 30-minute chronograph counter. The two-level graduated tachometer can be used for measuring speeds of up to 3000 km/h, supplementing the chronograph's indications.
Finally, the case’s round shape has been redesigned to provide space and openings. The lugs so characteristic of the Parmigiani style are boldly presented, as a final signature of its elegance.
The Tondagraph, available as a 15-piece limited edition in 18 carat white gold (with individual numbering on the case back) adds to the new contemporary faces that Parmigiani Fleurier offers Haute Horlogerie.
