URBAN JURGENSEN REFERENCE 1142

Throughout its nearly 250-year history, Urban Jürgensen has taken pride in the choices it makes in order to create timepieces of unique quality.

U

rban Jürgensen has a long history of exquisite dial making in single-piece fine silver. The dial surface is achieved by a process done entirely by hand. This means every dial is unique, and every watch will therefore have its own personality and character. First a final cut solid fine silver dial is engraved with the selected indexes, numerals and text. The ultra-shallow engravings are hand-filled with a lacquer, and the surplus hardened material is then polished off by the use of increasingly fine diamond paper. The dial’s grenage layer is then built up by manually treating and brushing a secret mix of silver powder, salt and other ingredients on to the blank silver dial surface. By an electro-chemical bonding process the dial face builds up a frosted, pearled and unique silvered surface with incredible depth and granularity.

At Urban Jürgensen, we believe this is one example of the quality of choices we make, to produce timepieces of truly classic quality – destined to keep their allure for generations to come.
