Gran'Chrono Astro by Dubey & Schaldenbrand

October 2003

Around 1946, when Georges Dubey and René Schaldenbrand were forming their atelier, a young girl in La Chaux-de-Fonds began the unusual hobby of collecting mechanical watches. So began the lifelong passion of Cinette Robert. Today, Cinette Robert, heads up Dubey & Schaldenbrand, a much respected mechanical watch manufacturer whose horological complications are appreciated by both her peers and watch connoisseurs throughout the world.

Gran'Chrono Astroby Dubey & Schaldenbrand
18 carat rose gold model set with 432 diamonds.

The Dubey & Schaldenbrand “Gran'Chrono Astro” adds to the complication of the Gran'Chrono a full triple date (day, date, month) combined with the phases of the moon. These added complications are fitted in the same ergonomic case where even pushers were specially designed to ensure maximum ease and aesthetics.

Due to its double curvature, the making of the 18 carat rose gold case requires no less than 90 operations and required 16 months to produce the final prototype. The “Gran'Chrono Astro” exclusive guilloche dial required the same painstaking process and is achieved in no less than 85 different steps.

Valjoux 7751 self-winding, automatic movement, 25 jewels, Incabloc, “chronometer-quality”, 2 counter sub-dials (30 minutes counter, 12 hours counter), date indicated with a hand, day and month calendar windows at 12:00, moon phase at 6:00, domed sapphire crystal exhibition case back, skeletonized rotor, blued-steel screws. Water resistant to 30 meters.

Delivered with certificate of origin.
