CORUM and Special Olympics bring ‘Road to Nowhere’ to Singapore

December 2007

CORUM Timepieces, the Swiss watchmaker, in association with Special Olympics, the global non-profit organization which empowers people with intellectual disabilities, have brought a ‘call-to-action’ pictorial exhibition to Singapore, entitled – Road to Nowhere. The exhibition features moving sights of a neglected world and questions our beliefs and attitudes. ‘Able first, disabled LAST ’ is more than a slogan in the sprawling slums of the world today. It is a norm which guarantees people with intellectual disabilities a place last in line. To be the most neglected amongst the already disadvantaged, with the absence of basic healthcare, immunization, nutrition, sanitation and intervention of any kind, is a death decree. With over one billion people living in slums today, a third of the urban population, the percentage of people with intellectual disabilities in slums is double that of the estimated global average of three percent.

Contribution Drive To Special Olympics By CORUM
From 1st to 31st December 2007, for every CORUM Admiral’s Cup timepiece sold, CORUM will contribute S$250 to Special Olympics Singapore as part of the brand’s effort to help the less fortunate during this season of love.

The prints on display will be sold at the end of the exhibition along with canvases painted by people who live in slums and are intellectually disabled. All proceeds will go towards Special Olympics Singapore and are tax exempt.
