Vulcain Restrospective Exhibition: From the Word Fair in Paris (1889) to Barack Obama’s alarm wrist-watch (2009)

January 2009

The story of a 150-year old watchmaking manufacture

Vulcain was born in La Chaux-de-Fonds in the second half of the 19th century. The manufacture went through three main periods:
I - the great world fairs in the 19th century (Paris, Chicago, Barcelona)
II - the invention of the 1st alarm wrist-watch in 1947. It became the famous « Watch of the Presidents » and will soon be offered to Barack Obama
III - the launching of the 1st self-winding caliber manufactured by Vulcain in 2009.

The historical pieces and the new automatic collection will be displayed at l’Heure AscH, and nowhere else:

From January, Wednesday 21st to February, Saturday 7th, 10.30 a.m - 6.30 p.m (except Sunday and Monday, Saturday 10.30 a.m - 4.30 p.m) in 19, rue de la Cité, Geneva
