End of the Mars 500 mission with Fortis

On November the 4th, a pioneering space experiment of ESA, FSA, DLR and the Chinese space agency ends: MARS 500.

More than 15 months ago the hatch of the space habitat in a research institute near Moscow was shut for 520 days. 6 probands from 4 different nations are taking part in this real time experiment simulating a flight to the red planet and generate the scientific basis data for a future mars mission. They are working on the solution of emergency scenarios and have to absolve a strict scientific program. Even the communication is realistic and it takes up to 40 minutes to receive an answer from ground control.

End of the Mars 500 mission with Fortis

On the occasion of this huge step towards Mars exploration, Swiss watch manufacturer Fortis being the official time keeper of the mission launches the BLACK MARS 500 CHRONOGRAPH, produced in a limited edition of worldwide only 500 pieces. The official mission logo is engraved of the side of the case and the screw-down case back is embossed with the logo of the Federal Space Agency Roscosmos.
