Titled The Mastery of Time, the exhibition from the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) draws on the eponymous book written by the historian Dominique Fléchon, jointly published by the FHH and Flammarion. Some one hundred artefacts and historically significant timepieces illustrate Man’s ingenuity over the centuries in conquering his temporal environment.

As well as travelling through different ages, this informative exhibition crosses the continents and will be successively presented at three important horological events: Salon Internacional Alta Relojeria in Mexico City, SalonQP in London, and Belles Montres in Paris.

True to its mission to promote the culture of time measurement in all its forms and around the globe, through this exhibition the FHH considers the history of time measurement as the mirror of human genius. Indeed, from the first gnomons to contemporary wonders of micromechanics, the inventions which have allowed Man to walk in the footsteps of Chronos are intimately linked to centuries of scientific and technical discoveries.

The exhibition is presented in six parts which immerse visitors in the pivotal moments of Man’s incessant quest to capture time. Together they show the different stages of development which have made the measurement of time one of Man’s greatest achievements, and a fabulous canvas for artists and craftsmen.

This unique exhibition is accompanied by catalogues and books.
