There’s no place like home. The luxury Swiss watchmaker has centralized the manufacturing of its movements and timepieces at a new complex in Lengnau, Switzlerland.

Carl F. Bucherer has been quite successful recently – its quadrupled production over the last five years, for example. But now, the brand is making serious moves towards the top of the watchmaking ladder. And its shifting its focus towards centralization to reach that goal.

Historically, the Luzern-based brand has sourced most of its watch movements. To match its lofty ambitions, now there’s a new focus on producing its movements and assembling its watches in-house.

To do so, the brand has just opened a new center of excellence in the quiet town of Lengnau, Switzlerland. The move is meant to facilitate optimized production processes and greater verticalization. It’s also the best way to ensure that the company’s own movements and assembly meets its own high quality standards.

Four calibres in particular will benefit from being housed under one roof: the CFB 1901 GMT chrono movement found in the Patravi TravelTec; the CFB T1001 found in the Manero Tourbillon; the revolutionary CFB A1000 movement, which has a peripheral rotor and provides over 55 hours of autonomy in the impressive Manero PowerReserve timepiece; and the CFB A2000, one of the newest movement series that’s also based on the impressive peripheral rotor.

By opening this new competence center, Carl F. Bucherer can meet increased demand and at the same time assure its future. Company CEO Sascha Moeri explains:

“We are proud to have achieved another important step for the Carl F. Bucherer company with this new competence center. The manufacture strengthens our identity as a traditional Swiss brand; it is a milestone in our development and the result of our sustainable growth strategy.”

Going forward, the new facility clearly positions the family-owned brand as a strong, independent watch manufacturer – something we see less and less of as the years go on. It will also ensure greater oversight over production and the highest quality standards in Swiss watchmaking.
