The German watchmaker has introduced new men’s and women’s editions of the ProMare, and both are more than just a pretty face.
It’s tough to find a tough watch that’s easy on the eyes. Usually we sacrifice some beauty when we want a wristwatch that’s rugged and durable, but Mühle-Glashütte is trying to take that decision out of our hands.
Two new watches have been launched by the German watchmaker, which are equal parts sophisticated in appearance and capable of ticking in even the hardest of conditions.
Let’s start with the latest addition to the men’s line, the ProMare Chronograph. Brand CEO Thilo Mühle explains the idea behind the watch:
“This is a watch for people just like me: people who sit at their desk during the day and then jump on their mountain bike or go or a run once the working day is over.”
Mühle isn’t overstating it. The ProMare Chronograph is one of the best attempts I’ve seen to bridge the gap between two completely different worlds: its stylish design makes it the perfect accessory at the office and its robustness makes it a trusty companion in the outdoors too.
How have the Germans managed to get the best of both worlds?
On the inside, we have the brand’s patented woodpecker neck regulation, providing more durability to the already robust MU 9408 automatic movement. The watch’s stainless steel case is also connected to a side protection element that keeps the crown safe in the case of knocks.
A playful dial, along with blue luminous applied indices ensure that the wearer can read the time, rain or shine. And to cap it all off, the watch boasts a very impressive water resistance of up to 300m. If you plan on using the ProMare Chronograph at those depths, opt for the waterproof leather/rubber strap instead of the stainless steel option.
But it’s not just the men that can enjoy that kind of style and performance.
The ProMare Lady is undeniably a classy looking and feminine watch. But don’t let the diamonds and precious mother-of-pearl dial fool you, this watch is built tough.
Its elegant face is framed by a pure white ceramic bezel ring, and is paired with a 39mm case made of polished and brushed stainless steel. It will also keep the water out up to 300m. Again, we have a crown protection element, showing us that this watch also means business and can handle some knocks.
The ProMare Lady combines feminine elegance with a side of sporty self-confidence. You’ll even see it at the 2016 Olympic Games on the wrists of athletes representing the German Sailing Association.
