Inhorgenta continues to raise its profile

Rise in exhibitor interest due to the introduction of the euro.
More comprehensive range aims to attract even more visitors from abroad.

Exhibitor interest in Inhorgenta MÜnchen 2002, the EU's most market platform for the clock, watch and jewellery sector (Inhorgenta 2001: 1,444 exhibitors from 43 countries), is especially high. The introduction of the euro in January 2002 has been an important factor in the enhanced attractiveness of the fair. Among companies with international business operations in particular, interest in participation in Inhorgenta has risen.

One of the segments where exhibitor interest is most marked is in technology and packaging. Planned for the corresponding section at Inhorgenta 2002 is the integration of even more exhibitors, especially among those involved in the manufacture of clocks, watches and parts. Given the current figures for exhibitor registration for the 29th International Trade Fair for Watches, Clocks, Jewellery, Precious Stones, Pearls, Silverware and their Manufacturing Equipment, all sections are expected to be fully booked.

As a platform for the international watch, clock and jewellery sector, Inhorgenta MÜnchen combines all segments in this sector under one roof - it spans technology, shopfittings and packaging, as well as machinery, equipment, tools, display units and cases. This wide range of products and services can exploit the uncomplicated and cost-effective contacts which arise at the fair, not only among trade visitors, but also between the other exhibitor groups. This is especially true, also, for the sector in Central and Eastern Europe, where demand for products and technology is high, as it catches up with the west.

Exhibiting companies with international sales can profit from Inhorgenta because of the introduction of the euro. For this reason there is also stronger interest in participation and in more stand space from such companies from Pforzheim and Idar-Oberstein, for example, as well as from the countries of Switzerland, Italy, Spain and Great Britain. Already on the internet, at www.inhorgenta.com (see “Specials”), a special service is offered to the retail trade, providing information on the change-over to the euro.

At Inhorgenta 2001, 31,141 visits from trade visitors from 72 countries were recorded. The proportion of trade visitors from abroad rose to 25 percent. 95 percent of the non-German visitors came from other countries in Europe, of which 68 percent were from the EU, mainly from the larger EU countries, which are also the most important ones for the manufacture of jewellery, watches and clocks.

As the organiser of the fair, Messe MÜnchen has set itself the goal of increasing still further the proportion of trade visitors from core EU countries. And it is seeking to boost the numbers from the transition countries of Central and Eastern Europe. For years Inhorgenta has played an important role in expanding and consolidating the sector in those countries. In 2001, approximately 1,500 buyers came to the fair from this economic region.

In the areas of design, technology and packaging, diamonds and precious stones, in which Inhorgenta plays a leading international role, worldwide visitor interest is high. Here, the aim is also to achieve a further increase in the numbers of trade visitors from abroad, including from beyond the borders of Europe. The name of Inhorgenta is to be synonymous with trade-fair expertise in the field of design and designer jewellery. In future the fair will raise its profile in this area and will be developing the concept further in close cooperation with leading representatives from the sector.
