As a tribute to precision and complicated timepieces, Antiquorum is organizing a prestigious thematic auction of collector's pocket watches, wristwatches and clocks, to take place on November 11 in Geneva, at the Hotel NogaHilton, in the Salon LÉman. During the last few months, Antiquorum's experts have assembled an impressive auction collection of over 300 lots, dating from around 1750 to the 1990's. A superb selection of about 150 rare timepieces, and of the highest quality, will be exhibited in Paris, at the Hotel De Crillon, on October 23 and 24. The entire auction collection will then be on view in at Antiquorum, in Geneva, from November 8.

The splendid catalogue for this thematic sale is bound to arouse the interest of watch lovers and collectors. It will represent an incredible source of information and reference on precision and complicated timepieces, both technically and historically. The fully illustrated auction catalogue will also include some very interesting period advertisements and various documents pertaining to the more important and rare items offered for sale.

Without doubt, the “star” lot of this thematic sale is an exceptional and rare Patek Philippe wristwatch, made in 1922, sold in 1937, which carries an estimate of SFr. 1.4 million - 1.8 million (US$ 800,000-1,000,000) - [SLIDE: “Patek Philippe 1922”]. This unique piece is the first stainless steel, single-button chronograph wristwatch made by Patek Philippe known to exist. It is an oversize model with medical dial, meaning it has a pulsometric scale. It is not unlikely that this particular wristwatch will set a new world record, surpassing the present all time world record for a wristwatch, which is of SFr. 2'973'500 (US$ 1.918,387 / Euro 1,835,500) and was set by Antiquorum in November 1999, (lot 448), for a 1922 Patek Philippe split-seconds chronograph wristwatch in 18K yellow gold.

(...) This exciting thematic auction will be broadcast live on www.antiquorum.com where collectors will also be able to leave absentee bids online or bid live in real time. From mid-October, the fully illustrated auction catalogue will be available online on Antiquorum's web-site.
