Howard Hauben launches H2 Consulting to serve jewelry industry

New York, January 1st, 2001 - Howard Hauben, formerly corporate senior vice president/group director of the Miller Freeman Jewelry Group has launched H2 Consulting, Inc. The company will initially focus on strategy, communications, trade show, marketing, advertising, internet and related services to the fine jewelry industry, according to Hauben, who is President and CEO.

H2 Consulting, Inc. is organized to assist manufacturers/wholesalers, retailers, show organizers, trade associations and publishers in the jewelry industry worldwide with their sales, marketing, communications, trade show and internet development strategies on a project, retainer or hourly basis. Coordination of staff and customer input, organized brainstorming, business plan development, creation of pro-forma profit & loss (P&L) statements, competitive analysis, training and contract negotiations are among the company's capabilities. All clients benefit from Hauben's proven creative and entrepreneurial talents, as well as his 23 years of industry experience and unique “global view” of the industry as the 10-year leader and architect of one of its largest business media groups.

Hauben is credited with having built the Miller Freeman Jewelry Group from a base of one highly respected magazine (National Jeweler) in 1990 to an international business. This increasingly influential global network includes trade shows JA New York and the Jewellery Couture Collection & Conference, publications Europa Star, American Time, Hora Latina, Europa Star Middle East, Asia and Chinese Editions, Europa Star/Couture International Jeweler (all Europa Star publications were acquired by the group in 1995), The Basel Tribune, Supersellers, Industry Yellow Pages and National Jeweler, websites NationalJeweler.com, EuropaStar.com, JewelerySearch.com, CoutureJeweler.com and other ancillary products. Sales for the group increased by more than 500% under Hauben's leadership. He created the highly successful, by-invitation-only Couture Collection & Conference in 1993, as well as piloted the Miller Freeman Jewelry Group as a support system to help turn around the ailing JA New York shows. JA New York was acquired by miller Freeman in 1997 and added to Hauben's group. Between 1997-2000, the JA shows grew more than 50% in exhibitors and attendees, reversing four years' of double-digit declines immediately preceding the acquisition.
