Gucci Group announces record December revenues...

Amsterdam, The Netherlands, January 11, 2001: Gucci Group N.V. announced that the Gucci Division achieved record revenues in the month of December.

Total Gucci Division revenues exceeded $182 million and were up more than 30%. Retail sales were approximately $145 million and were up nearly 40%. This increase reflected the five week retail calendar in December in certain regions.

On a comparative five week basis and in constant currency, Gucci Division retail sales increased more than 25%. This growth reflected strength throughout the world as the division experienced double digit increases in each major region: USA, Europe, Japan and the rest of Asia.

Gucci has made this announcement because of concerns expressed by the investment community about the recent performance of the luxury retail sector. Full year results will be announced in the second half of
March 2001.

Gucci owns watch brands Gucci, YSL, Boucheron and Bedat & Co.
