International jewelry design competition

Jewelry designers are invited to register now for the regional contest of the Facet Award 2001, which includes the European, American and Asian Facet Award. Entries of the finalists in these contests will be displayed at special exhibitions at the Summer JA Show in New York, the Hong Kong Jewelry & Watch Fair this September, and the Orogemma in Vicenza this September.

Finalists from all these will automatically qualify for the World Facet Award to be held for the first time at the prestigious Vicenza Fair in Italy in January 2002. Award Manager Bernd Stadlwieser says “Many of the key players in the industry are actively supporting this competition as partners. Our joined forces will ensure that the Facet Award becomes the industry's principal design event - the equivalent of”the Oscars“for outstanding achievement in gemstone jewelry design.”

Bernd Stadlwieser sees the Facet Award as a great opportunity for jewelry designers: “The finalists and award winners will enjoy great publicity. We are promoting the competition throughout the jewelry world and beyond.”

The theme of this year's competition is “Sea of Lights.” The jury will be looking for dazzling designs that kindle passion through color, form and brilliance. The deadline for registration is April 30 and the deadline for submitting designs is May 31.
