Constant growth of the Swiss watch industry

8,2 billion Swiss Francs: this is the figure which represents the exports of the Swiss watch industry during the first 10 months of the year 2000. A remarkable figure, it corresponds to a 16,1% increase compared to 1999's same period. The U.S. head the export countries with products worth 1,47 billion SFr. exported to the U.S.A. (+ 20,7% compared to 1999). In Europe, an increase of 25% in exports towards France during the year's first ten months, + 14% for the U.K. and + 11,5% for Italy are the latest figures. In terms of number of pieces, 24,9 million completed watches were exported, about 900.000 less (-3,5%) than last year.
