Fortis on duty onboard of the ISS

October 2000

FORTIS on duty onboard of the International Space Station
“If we do not colonize other planets, the human species is threatened from becoming extinct.” This thesis was written by one the greatest minds of our generation, Professor Stephen Hawking. The international space organizations are working on concrete programs to realize his vision of sustaining life on other planets. In addition to the colonization of Mars, other locations that will be considered include Ganymede, the largest moon of Jupiter and Titan, one of Saturn's moons.
On October 31st, the first crew of astronauts and cosmonauts will be launched for their 117-day stay onboard of the International Space Station (ISS). This historic mission will establish mankind's first outpost in space. Also rocketing to the International Space Station will be the Swiss watch manufacturer FORTIS. Thanks to its continuous space commitment, including more than six years of practice tests on the wrists of international astronauts, FORTIS was awarded the certificate by the Russian Space Agency as exclusive supplier of all their astronauts/cosmonauts during space missions and boarding of the ISS. The Official Cosmonauts Chronograph, in its original set, has been presented to the crewmembers of the first space station crew by the chief of the Russian Space Agency, Mr. Yuri Koptjew.
