first-generation entrepreneur, Gaurav Mehta built Jaipur Watch Company from his belief that a watch could be a reflection on history, culture and tradition.
The brand’s best-known models incorporate genuine antique coins, embedded in the dial like fragments of memory. Others pay tribute to the traditional arts of the subcontinent, from hand-painted Pichhwai to Jaipur miniatures, rare stamps (including the Penny Black, the world’s first adhesive postage stamp) and gold leaf motifs. One collection honours the legacy of the acclaimed Indian artist Raja Ravi Varma.
The watches are produced in limited series, often to order, and can be entirely personalised. Models, which run off Miyota movements, range in price from £200 up to £9,500 for 18k gold: a small price for a fragment of history, be it Indian or personal, on the wrist.
