A special edition for Europa Star's 95th anniversary

The issue features over 200 pages of content dedicated to the state of watchmaking in 1927, back when Hugo Buchser launched the publishing house, plus a snapshot of what the industry looks like in 2022… and everything that happened in between! To prepare this special edition we made extensive use of our archives, which hold a century’s worth of digitised content.

e are pleased to present you with an exceptional edition to celebrate Europa Star’s 95th anniversary. It features over 200 pages of content dedicated to the state of watchmaking in 1927, back when my great-grandfather started our publishing house, plus a snapshot of what the industry looks like in 2022… and everything that happened in between!

We hope you’ll enjoy reading it. To prepare this special edition we made extensive use of our archives, which hold a century’s worth of digitised content. This incredible resource truly brings the past back to life, and shines a light on our vision of both the past and the future.

The experience we gained with our own archives also convinced us, in collaboration with several partners such as the International Watch Museum of La Chaux-de-Fonds and the Horological Society of New York, to launch a new public interest foundation dedicated to the preservation and promotion of watch archives: The Watch Library Foundation. It aims to unite the watch industry around this essential common goal. Future generations will no doubt thank us for taking care of our heritage, just as we ourselves attempt to solve the riddles of the past!

I hope you enjoy reading this very special issue. We’re looking forward to celebrating the 100th anniversary in five years. It will be a significant milestone for our family-owned company, as we dedicate our time and efforts to our passion for watchmaking, publishing and all the people behind this great industry.

Kind regards,
