he programme opened with a call to collective action delivered by Angelika Duckenfield, President of the Association. Participants then took part in thematic sessions focused on traceability, chemical management, responsible farming, sustainable tanning and life cycle assessment all along the leather bracelets supply chain to complete watches. Throughout the day, speakers emphasised the importance of shared standards and transparent communication.
A new promotional leather science-fact flyer, developed as a joint effort by several key actors in the industry to support clear and evidence based communication, was officially launched during the event and is copied in full with the article.
Panels featured contributions from recognised specialists in the fields of sustainable sourcing, watchmaking, chemistry and certification. Discussions highlighted concrete progress already under way in different parts of the chain, while also identifying areas where coordinated effort remains essential. Several case studies illustrated how practical improvements can support both product quality and environmental responsibility.
Participants benefited from dedicated networking moments during the breaks, at lunch and at the evening reception. These exchanges encouraged new partnerships and reinforced existing collaborations, confirming the central role of the Association to provide a centre of competencies to facilitate and manage chemical compliance, traceability and the environmental impact of leather bracelets. The strong engagement shown by all participants demonstrates that quality and responsibility are shared priorities.
“The leather bracelets of AQC members are a sustainable choice and this can be proven through research, analyses and cooperation as never before. Science based facts are collected and communication is streamlined. Methodologies and data collection are harmonised in various multistakeholder projects. New norms and guidelines are created,” said Angelika Duckenfield.
The Association will continue to support its members throughout 2026 through working groups, information sessions and collaborative initiatives. The next AQC multistakeholder meeting is already scheduled for November 2026, in Geneva.
