ust Identity, the MIT-born company that gives physical objects an unclonable identity using engineered diamond material, announced that it has won the Technology for Luxury category at the Luxury Innovation Awards 2026.
Dust Identity was one of 15 finalists who presented to an international jury in Geneva on 30 September. Winners were announced on 1 October at the InterContinental Geneva during the Luxury Innovation Summit 2026. They were chosen by a combination of jury voting (70%) and voting by registered Summit attendees (30%).
This year’s Summit ran under the theme “Proof Over Promise. The New Luxury Playbook.” Dust Identity’s technology answers that brief directly.
A thin layer of microscopic diamond particles is applied to an item (leather, metal, a watch component or a piece of jewellery). The particles settle into a random pattern that cannot be copied. An optical scan reads that pattern and links it to a secure digital record. The record follows the item through its whole life: production, distribution, retail, resale and repair.
For luxury houses, this means one verifiable identity per object. It supports authentication against counterfeits, traceability of materials and components, trusted pre-owned and certified resale programmes, and the data needed for the EU’s upcoming Digital Product Passport.
“Luxury has always asked clients to trust a story. Our job is to make that story provable, object by object, for as long as the object exists. Being recognised in Geneva, by a jury and an audience from the heart of the industry, tells us the market is ready for proof over promise”. - Ophir Gaathon, Co-founder and CEO, Dust Identity
“On stage I held up a Dusted ring, because the technology is invisible to the client until it matters: at the point of sale, at resale, or in a dispute about authenticity. The identity lives on the object itself, so the proof travels with it for its whole life. Our next step is putting that proof into collections that reach clients in 2027”. - Nairi Jayne Tarakdjian, Partnerships & Market Development Manager, Dust identity.
“Dust Identity showed the jury something the industry has needed for years: proof that lives in the object itself. As counterfeits get more sophisticated and the resale market keeps growing, brands need authentication that can’t be copied or removed. Dust offers exactly that, without changing how a product looks or feels”. - Ines Ennaji Chaïbi, Managing Director, Luxury Venture Group.
